What Mom Wants- Mother’s Day Gift Guide

As mothers many of us spend so much of our time caring for the ones we love…our children, husbands and our own mothers. It’s a “them before me” mentality. But, May 12, 2019 is our day.  On Mother’s Day we deserve some pampering, kind words, thoughtful gestures…and a fabulous GIFT works too! Here are a few Mother’s Day gift ideas for the hard working, loving and generous mom in your life.

BOOKS AND JOURNALS

Keepsake Journals. As a Mother’s Day gift to myself I purchase Just Between Us-A Mother and Daughter Journal and Between Mom and Me-A Mother and Son Keepsake Journal

Through writing prompts and quizzes these journals pave the way to discussing everything from friends to school crushes and growing up. My 10 year-old heads to middle school next year and I’m terrified of a sudden communication breakdown. I’m hoping these journals help us better understand each other and give us perspective when we aren’t seeing eye-to-eye.

For my mother, an Italian immigrant with lots of incredible life stories to share, I bought Just Between Us: Grandmother and Granddaughter and Grandma and Me. I plan on having my kids fill-in their portions of the journals before gifting it to my mother. I get emotional just thinking about finally having my mom’s stories written down in her own words.

For the chef mom. Heirloom Kitchen has quickly become one of my favorite cookbooks. For anyone who has tried to document family recipes by making it with their mother or grandmother, you know how difficult it can be. My grandmother used her hands, instead of measuring cup for flour and sugar!

Anna Gasse, author of Heirloom Kitchen, brings together the stories and dishes of 40 strong, exceptional women, all immigrants to the United States, who’s heirloom recipes have helped shape the landscape of American food. The book is full of recipes your family will love. My tip would be to cook a meal from the book for her on Mother’s Day.

JEWELRY. DIAMONDS ARE NEVER A BAD IDEA

My husband bought me a ring from EF Jewelry several years back for Mother’s Day. I just love it. Her jewelry is youthful, fun and well made. My picks for Mother’s Day are her statement necklaces. This Mini Diamond BOSS Necklace ($675) paired with the Mini Diamond BABE Necklace ($695) are a win win in my book. Or just the Diamond MAMA Initial Necklace ($825) will do!

I also love the gorgeous rings and initial necklaces from KVO Collections! The sisters behind this company donate a portion of their profits to help “everyday people with everyday problems.”

I hope this Mother’s Day gift guide helped steer you in the right direction, but consider that most moms would  rather you just tell or show them how much you love and appreciate all they do.
